\"Alex<\/a>France\u2019s Alex Mateos continued his domination of the international paramotoring competition scene with a strong win at the 9th FAI Paramotor World Championships in Popham, England last week, 20-27 August 2016.<\/p>\n

The young Frenchman took gold in the foot-launched paramotor class, flying an\u00a0Ozone Viper 4 paraglider with Macfly paramotor powered by Polini Thor 200 engine, and helped lead France to a Team gold in the Nations category too.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am proud to have my new title of FAI World Paramotoring Champion 2016!\u201d Mateos said afterwards.<\/p>\n

\"Paramotor<\/a>
Footlaunched paramotor podium: Alex Mateos 1st, Julien Barbier 2nd and Pasquale Biondo 3rd.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Mateos\u2019s win adds another gold to his growing collection \u2013 he won the paramotoring event at the FAI World Air Games in Dubai in December last year, and earlier this year won the FAI World Paramotor Slalom Championships too. He also won the French National Championships.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the best year of competitions that I have ever had,\u201d he said after he had returned home to France. \u201cMy goal now is to keep these titles.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was a near clean sweep for France and French pilots across the rest of the paramotoring competition.<\/p>\n

The team dominated the Nations category, scoring a total of 36,564 points across 10 tasks. In second place, Czech Republic was a massive 8,000 points behind. Poland was third with 27,680.<\/p>\n

Mateos won the solo foot-launch category, the biggest class in the competition with 45 pilots from 14 nations. He scored 5,458 points \u2013 148 more than second place team mate Julien Barbier (Dudek Hadron XX 18\/Miniplane Top 80). Pasquale Biondo (ITA, Ozone Viper3\/T Rex Vittorazi Moster 185) was in third.<\/p>\n

\"Marie<\/a>
Marie Mateos took 5th place overall in the main category, foot-launched paramotor, and became Female Paramotor World Champion<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In the PF1 female category<\/strong>, with 4 women competing, Marie Mateos (Alex\u2019s wife) took the world champion title after ending 5th<\/span>\u00a0overall in the competition.<\/p>\n

France also picked up gold in the solo trikes category, where Thomas Petit came first, and the foot-launch tandem category, where Fabrice Breuzard and Christelle Breuzard won the day.<\/p>\n

It didn\u2019t all go France\u2019s way, however. In the tandem trikes category, Czech pair Lubomir Zavorka and Daniel Trochta won gold.<\/p>\n

The competition was held at Popham airfield in southern England, about 80km from London.<\/p>\n

Run at the same time and same place as the FAI Paramotor World Championships, the FAI World Microlight Championships saw pilots compete across five classes, including solo and tandem trikes, and tandem gyrocopters.<\/p>\n
