I have been lucky enough to follow Bruce Goldsmith\u2019s work from the Base 1, through the hugely successful Base 2, and now I have the new one in my hands \u2014 and over my head: the <strong>BGD Base 3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"BGD BASE 3: El &quot;lobo con piel de cordero&quot; de la Clase B | Test en vivo\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UhDMFohnVcE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At first glance, its friendly, compact look could fool the untrained eye into thinking it is an entry-level wing. Nothing could be further from the truth. Behind that calm appearance hides a machine that openly flirts with the C class, able to fly toe to toe with its big sister, the Lynx.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"889\" src=\"https:\/\/ojovolador.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/bgd-base-32.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19840\" style=\"width:433px;height:auto\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ojovolador.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/bgd-base-32.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ojovolador.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/bgd-base-32-202x300.jpg 202w, https:\/\/ojovolador.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/bgd-base-32-283x420.jpg 283w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Engineering under the cloth<\/strong> BGD has gone for a hybrid <strong>2.5-line<\/strong> design, today\u2019s standard for cutting parasitic drag. With a flat aspect ratio of 5.7 and 57 cells, the wing feels solid, far from the visual fragility of other high-performance models. Add to that its trademark <em>Double Leading Edge<\/em> and the addition of <em>winglets<\/em>, small details that add up to more stability and efficiency in the turn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>From Piedrah\u00edta to Lanzarote: a complete test<\/strong> For this review, the Base 3 has been through everything: from four demanding tasks at the Spanish Championship in Piedrah\u00edta to fun flying on the ridges of Lanzarote and technical mountain flying in Tenerife. Whether with a lightweight harness or with a <em>Genie Race 5<\/em>, the response is consistent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In the air: performance on a silver platter<\/strong> The first thing that strikes you is how docile it is. The \u201ccompact block\u201d feeling is immediate, making piloting intuitive, almost telepathic. But its greatest virtue is the turn: the Base 3 is a genuine <strong>core finder<\/strong>. It has a natural tendency to wind itself into the thermal, letting you climb at the pace of competition wings with minimal mental effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On glide, the confidence stays. I reached <strong>54 km\/h GPS<\/strong> with enviable solidity, thanks to a reflex profile that makes it rock-solid in turbulence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong> The BGD Base 3 stands out as a very smart choice both for progressing pilots looking for safety and for XC veterans who want performance without stress.
