BGD Kiss 2

The Kiss 2 comes in four sizes — 13, 16, 19 and 22 m² of flat area — with a flat aspect ratio of 4.7 and a weight starting at 1.8 kg for the smallest size. According to the spec sheet published by BGD, size 16 is EN/LTF-A certified up to 80 kg and EN/LTF-B up to 90 kg, while size 19 is EN-A for pilots from 55 to 95 kg; sizes 13 and 22 are listed on the website with certification pending. The brand specifies that EN/LTF certification only applies in paragliding mode: in parakite mode internal folding tests have been carried out, but certification manoeuvres cannot be performed with parakite risers.

The main innovation is precisely that mode switch: in PK configuration, the pilot controls the full speed range with the brakes instead of the speed bar, which BGD puts forward as an advantage with skis, crampons or strong winds after take-off. Team pilot Tyr, quoted in BGD’s design notes, explains that during a trip to Iceland with size 16 “in mild conditions I turned thermals and flew in PG mode, and when the wind picked up I switched to PK mode”, which allowed him to keep flying in situations he could not have faced with a conventional paraglider. BGD insists that the Kiss 2 is not a dedicated parakite, but “a paraglider with expanded possibilities”, and recommends getting familiar with the PK mode progressively and in laminar conditions.

In terms of construction, the wing uses Dominico D10 fabric at 25 g/m² and unsheathed Edelrid Magix Pro Dry lines, with sail and internal structure in Porcher Skytex at 27 g/m². The complete package, according to BGD, fits in a hand-luggage bag, which reinforces its profile as a travel wing.

The Kiss 2 joins a recent industry trend toward hybrid wings or wings with expanded flight modes, in line with other recent launches such as the PHI ROWDY parakite, although with different approaches: while the ROWDY is a dedicated parakite, the Kiss 2 remains above all a mountain paraglider with the PK option as an extra.
