MK-Flightsystems parakite range

The undisputed master of groundhandling and a pioneer of extreme maneuvers is taking the definitive step into wing design. Mike Küng presents MK-Flightsystems (mkfs.at), a project born in the heart of the Alps and on coastal dunes, together with Ria Küng, Ralf Bielmeier and Stefan Schneiter. The brand dives straight into the booming parakite segment with a clear philosophy: flying doesn’t start when your feet leave the slope, but in the precise connection between risers and wind on the ground.

The wing range: Spike, Supra and Sicario

The MK-Flightsystems lineup structures strong-wind flying into three clearly defined technical steps, optimized to manage kinetic energy, hold internal pressure and get the most out of dynamic coastal soaring:

MK-Flightsystems Spike
  • Spike: The wing designed as the gateway into the world of parakiting. Built to offer a forgiving wind window, progressive inflation with no tendency to overshoot violently, and the damping needed to build confidence on the sand or on the slope.
  • Supra: The heart of the range. A machine available in 17, 21 and 25 m² sizes, built to make the most of dynamic transitions. It stands out for its clean dive when you let up on the lines —turning height into pure speed— and a powerful flare when braking. It features Wingtip-Steering through a dedicated line branch on the stabilo, allowing flatter, tighter turns to be initiated before burying the brake, minimizing loss of lift and energy. Its reflex profile provides turbulence-proof solidity in strong gusts.
  • Sicario: The high-performance design aimed at experienced pilots. With a higher aspect ratio and top speed, it’s built for those seeking maximum penetration in strong wind and superior glide without losing pure responsiveness. Its full launch is planned for the 2027 season.

Optimized risers and dedicated harnesses: Freestyle and Swag

MK-Flightsystems Supra

One of the project’s technical hallmarks lies in the risers. Following the piloting method refined by Küng on dunes such as those in Denmark, the system is optimized for ultra-sensitive control from the C-risers. This architecture lets you modulate the angle of attack in real time and kill or generate energy without traumatically deforming the upper surface.

On the piloting and suspension side, the brand introduces two specific harnesses with leg straps designed to prevent unwanted shifting during takeoffs and intense ground sessions:

  • MK Freestyle: Robust, with direct body response and able to hold up to two reserve parachutes.
  • Swag: A light, agile concept designed specifically for touch & go play, quick transitions on foot and low-level flying.

Ojovolador’s take

A parakite isn’t simply a small paraglider or an oversized kite; it’s a discipline with its own dynamics, where the line between flying and sliding blurs. Someone with Mike Küng’s track record deciding to pour decades of testing and technical mastery into his own brand is great news for the community.

MK-Flightsystems Sicario

At a time when the strong-wind market demands intuitive wings with bite, the MK-Flightsystems proposal stands out for something essential: these are wings designed around riser feel, how the leading edge behaves in a gust and clean management of inertia, before chasing showy tricks. We’ll need to log hours on the sand to gauge the true character of the Supra’s wingtip steering.
