The Spanish Tandem and EN-B Paragliding Championship has left us with a taste of legend and a promising future. Beyond the four tasks flown and the results table, this competition was a true melting pot of emotions, where the experience of the veterans came face to face with the boldness of a new generation of pilots. Piedrahíta, 23 to 27 July 2025.

And among the 79 pilots taking part, two stories shine above the rest: that of the EN-B class champion and that of the tandem champion.

Víctor Aguilera: 15 years old and the eyes of a champion

piedrahita 2025 04

At just 15, Víctor Aguilera has been crowned EN-B champion. I have been flying with him and I can vouch that his flying is mature and effective. As he told me in an impromptu interview before the prize-giving: “When the thermal is weak and I see the group no longer has the drive to push on… and when I know there’s something up ahead, that I know is there and that it’s strong, then I go for it.” A champion’s mindset!

And it is not just his daring, it is his technique. Always high, always in the best thermal. Despite the age difference, I struggled to keep up with him in the air. It is proof that in paragliding, age does not define your talent. Víctor flies a Mac Para Eden 8, a wing that, according to him, has brutal performance and gave him the confidence to take risks when it counted. With his sights set on the Hike & Fly World Championship, Sport championships and the Spanish League, I have no doubt Víctor has a bright future.

Félix Rodríguez: flying with the person who taught you to fly

But if one title was especially emotional, it was Félix Rodríguez’s. He not only won the tandem championship, he did it flying with his father. Imagine that: a high-level competition, the pressure, the strategy… all shared with the person who watched you grow up and taught you to fly.

This story is the very image of what free flight means to many of us. It is not just a sport; it is a legacy, a passion handed down from generation to generation. Tandem flying requires total trust, and what better co-pilot than your own father? His victory is a beautiful reminder that, sometimes, the greatest flights are not the longest, but those made with a purpose: living the experience!

This year in Piedrahíta, we saw not only recreational pilots, novices, new talents and great pilots competing together. We saw a young prodigy fly with the wisdom of a veteran, and a father and son become champions together. Past, present and future of Spanish paragliding. Good signs for all of us who live the passion of paragliding.
