Le Grand-Bornand

The SRS (Sports-Class Racing Series) is a non-profit circuit driven by Brett Janaway and designed specifically for pilots who do not compete in the EN-D or CCC classes: EN-A, EN-B and EN-C certified wings can enter, including — but not limited to — the EN-C two-liners that have proliferated in recent years. As the series itself explains on its website, the idea is to give sport-class pilots the same competitive spotlight traditionally reserved for the open class.

The SRS Le Grand-Bornand edition, sponsored by Ozone, saw very mixed conditions over the week. Task 1 was a 76 km course around Lake Annecy with 119 pilots in goal. On task 4, Lambert arrived low at the first turnpoint and was the first to tag it, although it was Luke Nicol (GBR, Gin GTO 3) who crossed the goal line 20 seconds earlier; Lambert still took the day’s win thanks to leading points. The final 82 km task took in the Dents de Lanfon, the Parmelan and the Tournette before linking up with the Aravis to goal; Nicol won that task, crossing four minutes ahead of Lambert himself, but it was not enough to take the overall title from him, and he finished 2nd. Third on the podium was young Spanish pilot Víctor Aguilera, flying a Gin GTO 3.

Reviewing this SRS Le Grand-Bornand on its official account, Ozone highlighted six 1,000-point days, the best the brand has had at an SRS edition, and stressed that Lambert won the title despite flying a simpler, less stretched wing than other EN-Cs in the field. In the women’s category, Mette Krum (DNK, Gin GTO 3) won four of the six tasks and took the category. Advance, in its own results summary, confirmed that its pilots Lene Spaarwater and Linda Hoch completed the podium in 2nd and 3rd place, with Sarah Zimmermann 4th, all flying the new Advance TAU DLS.

The Sports-Class Racing Series continues its 2026 calendar in Piedrahita (Ávila), at the BGD-sponsored edition from 22 to 29 August, with seven tasks planned at one of Spain’s most classic cross-country venues.
