Gin Gliders has officially unveiled the Genie Race 6, the new generation of its competition cocoon harness, aimed at pilots on the PWCA circuit and CCC-class events. According to the brand, the design goal was to “challenge the compromises competition harnesses have always demanded”, combining World Cup-level performance with better accessibility and protection.

The most visible novelty is the dual cockpit: you can fly with the shell exposed for immediate access to the instruments, or close it off with a removable cover with side zippers and magnetic closures to achieve a fully faired profile. With the cover in place, a dedicated air intake pressurises it and keeps its aerodynamic shape.

For protection, Gin highlights that the new multi-layer protector reaches a certified peak impact value of 35.41 G without increasing the harness’s cross-section, extending across the whole back and seat area. The reserve handles have been moved forward for “more intuitive” access when needed.

In-flight stability has been developed with the collaboration of designer Denis Cortella: the seat plate is connected to the back via a link that, according to Gin, reduces torsional rotation and yaw of the harness, supported by a redesigned rear keel. Practical details include an anti-forget system that connects the ballast to the harness, an asymmetric three-step speed bar, an outlet for a hydration system and several compartments (a 30 L rear pocket, side pockets prepared for Gin’s future “G-Chute” anti-G system, and chest pockets with cable passage for an external battery).

The Genie Race 6 is manufactured in sizes XS to XL, EN/LTF/CE certified, with a weight ranging from 7.96 kg (S) to 8.54 kg (L).

Comparison: Niviuk Rocket R

Within the same niche — CCC and XC competition cocoon harnesses launched in 2026 — the most direct rival is the Niviuk Rocket R, which Ojovolador already covered in this article. The Rocket R goes for an internal Nitinol structure that automatically adjusts the distance between the footrest and the tip of the shell, with a weight of around 7.5 kg in size M and a certified peak impact value of 41.59 G, slightly above the Genie Race 6. We also previously published the spec sheet of the Genie Race 5, the direct predecessor of this model.
